Are you being mean to yourself?

With the media telling us that we have to be ‘perfect’ to be happy, it’s no wonder we don’t feel good enough. It becomes understandable that we ‘buy in’ to buying stuff we really don’t want or need. Combine the repetition of the media’s messages with our negative self-talk and it’s no wonder that we as a society suffer from low self-esteem and unhappiness.

So what’s one to do about it?

My first recommendation is go on a media diet. Focus on consuming books, mp3s, videos, etc. that make you feel good. Take in stuff that makes you smile.

Secondly, trying to be nicer to yourself. When you find yourself criticizing yourself, stop and ask yourself, “Would I say that to my friend, in that tone of voice?” Probably not. Practice speaking to yourself in the way that you would speak to a friend. Be more understanding.

Thirdly, stop expecting perfection of yourself. Think about it. Have you ever done this before? Can you remember being human before? Granted some of us have snippets of recall of past lives. However, they’re only snippets. The truth is that this is the first time we’ve ever been in this body, at this time, on this earth, with these people in this situation. We need to treat ourselves as we do small children. We don’t expect babies or children to get it perfect the first time! It’s unfair to expect perfection from ourselves.

I find it best to give something a try for a week to see if it makes a difference.

If they do work for you, you’ll find that your overall vibration will rise and you’ll naturally attract people and experiences that mirror this better feeling place.
